For Stocks, Mutual Funds, Business, Crypto. Exact compound annual growth rate.
Formula: (EV/BV)^(1/n) - 1 • Used by Warren Buffett
CAGR stands for Compound Annual Growth Rate. It is the most accurate way to measure investment growth over time. Unlike simple average return, CAGR shows you the true yearly compounding rate at which your money grew. Our GrowthX CAGR Calculator is 100% free, no watermark, no login, unlimited usage worldwide. Whether you are in India, USA, UK, Dubai, you can use this tool for stocks, mutual funds, SIP, crypto, business revenue, or even YouTube subscribers growth.
For example, you invested Rs 1 Lakh in a mutual fund and after 5 years it became Rs 2.5 Lakh. Simple return is 150% total, but CAGR is 20.11% per year. This means your money grew at 20.11% yearly compounded. This is the number every professional investor uses. Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway CAGR is 19.8% for 60 years, which made him billionaire.
CAGR Formula: CAGR = (Ending Value / Beginning Value)^(1 / Number of Years) - 1. In percentage: CAGR% = [(EV/BV)^(1/n) -1] *100. Our calculator does this automatically. If you invested $10,000 in Apple stock in 2020 and now it is $28,000 in 2026 (6 years), CAGR = (28000/10000)^(1/6)-1 = 18.69% per year. This is better than bank FD which gives 7%.
Many people confuse CAGR with absolute return and simple average. Absolute return is just (Final-Initial)/Initial*100. For above example absolute is 150%. But CAGR gives you yearly rate. If two mutual funds both gave 150% in 5 years vs 3 years, their CAGR is different: 5-year CAGR 20.11%, 3-year CAGR 35.72%. So 3-year fund is better even though absolute same. That's why CAGR is rank #1 metric for comparison.
Step 1: Enter Initial Investment - how much you started with. Step 2: Enter Final Value - how much you have now or after years. Step 3: Enter Duration in years, or months for short term. Our calculator auto-converts months to years. Click Calculate. You get CAGR%, total profit, monthly CAGR, doubling time, and growth multiple. Pro Tip: Use months field for less than 1 year. If you bought crypto for $1000 and after 8 months it became $1800, enter Initial 1000, Final 1800, Months 8, CAGR will be 154% annualized. This helps compare short term trades with long term investments.

For Indian users, use this for: Stock CAGR (NSE/BSE), Mutual Fund CAGR, SIP CAGR, PPF vs Mutual Fund comparison, Business revenue CAGR (if revenue grew from 10L to 50L in 3 years, CAGR 71%). For US users: 401k growth, S&P 500 CAGR, Crypto CAGR.
CAGR is for one-time lump sum investment. XIRR is for SIP/multiple cashflows. Absolute return is total return without time. For example, you invested 1L, got 2L in 5 years: Absolute 100%, CAGR 14.87%. If you invested monthly SIP, you must use XIRR not CAGR. But for comparing two stocks or two businesses, CAGR is king. Our More Tools at fixoraa.tech has XIRR and SIP calculators also.
Good CAGR benchmarks: 8-12% is good for mutual funds, 15%+ is excellent for stocks, 20%+ is outstanding (only top 1% investors), 50%+ is usually risky or short term luck. If someone says they give 5% monthly, that's 79.58% CAGR annually - very high risk, likely scam.
